Earlier on Wednesday Benchmark indices Nifty50 and S&P BSE Sensex erased opening gains to end in the red. Both the indices shed 0.50% during the yesterday's closing. Nifty gave up 17,500 as the index was down 88.30 points or 0.5% to close at 17,415.05, while Sensex ended 324.34% or 0.55% to 58,340.99. Nifty IT, FMCG & Auto were the top laggards, while Media, PSU Bank gained marginally. Tata Consumer, Maruti, Infosys were down nearly 2.5 per cent each.
Nifty Bank, however, bounced back to close near 37,500. The banking index, aided by RBL Bank Kotak Bank and ICICI Bank, closed 169 points higher to 37,441.95
