After 6 days, dispute ends over Agra-Udaipur Vande Bharat Express train operation

A dispute spanning Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, over the operation of a newly-launched Vande Bharat service between Udaipur and Agra, ended after six days on Sunday, September 8. The escalation involved after three Indian Railways personnel began engaged in a scuffle following the commencement of the Udaipur-Agra Vande Bharat Express service on September 2.
Senior Railways authorities met in a special meeting to discuss the dispute between the head offices of Kota Mandal and Agra Cantt, after a video capturing images from the scuffle circulated on social media.
Officials of two Railways Zones, the NCR and the WCR, engaged in talks through video conferencing to resolve the matter.
It was decided that the operation between Kota and Agra will be handled by the Gangapur City office and the remaining journey will be handled by the Agra office, sources told Zee Business.
After the meeting, when Vande Bharat train reached Gangapur City on the route from Agra to Udaipur, in the presence of Railways officials and security forces, the loco pilot, assistant loco pilot, and train manager of Agra headquarters were deboarded and the charge was given to the Gangapur City crew.
The Vande Bharat trains, also known as Vande Bharat Express, are a series of high-speed, semi-high-speed trains introduced by Indian Railways to enhance passenger comfort and efficiency.
Launched in 2019, these trains are designed to offer faster travel and modern amenities compared to traditional trains.
These special trains aim to revolutionise the country's rail network by incorporating advanced technology and design features.
Boasting state-of-the-art safety systems, including automatic train protection and collision avoidance technology, Vande Bharat trains are equipped with comfortable, ergonomic seating, Wi-Fi connectivity, and advanced air-conditioning systems. They also feature improved safety measures, such as fire detection and suppression systems.
The Vande Bharat Express operates at speeds of up to 160 km/h, significantly reducing travel time on major routes.
