Punjab rail roko andolan: The changes in train routes and days of operation were made due to the three-day-long 'rail roko' protest that has been organised by the farmers in several areas of Punjab.
Punjab protest trains cancelled list: Due to the ongoing farmers stir in the state of Punjab, the Northern Railways has called for cancellation or diversion of several trains owing to the closure of certain sections running between Firozpur (FZR) and Ambala (UMB) divisions, with effect from Thursday, September 28, 2023. The changes in train routes and days of operation were made due to the three-day-long 'rail roko' protest that has been organised by the farmers in several areas of Punjab.
The Northern Railways has provided all the details of the sections and divisions that have been closed during the three-days-long protest. Here are the details —
Punjab Rail Roko Andolan: Sections closed in the Firozpur (FZR) Division
Main Line Closure:
Jalandhar Cantonment (JRC) - Jalandhar City Junction (JUC) / Suchipind Station (SCPD) section of Sanahwal Station (SNL) to Amritsar Junction (ASR) / Jammu Tawi (JAT).
Travellers should also note that there will be no movement to and from Amritsar Junction (ASR) in this division.
Trains travelling to and from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Station (SVDK) might pass via Suchipind Station (SCPD) - Jalandhar City Junction (JUC) - Lohian Khas Junction (LNK) or Nakodar Junction (NRO) - Phillaur Junction Station (PHR) - Ludhiana Junction (LDH).

6. Amritsar Junction (ASR) - Tarn Taran Junction (TTO)
7. Verka Junction (VKA) - Dera Baba Nanak Station (DBNK)

The three-day-long protest is being organised by several farmer bodies over various demands, including financial aid due to the losses caused by recent floods, the legal guarantee of MSP, and debt waiver. It is expected to end on September 30.
