In such a situation, considering the convenience of its passengers, Railways has made many rules and regulations so that they do not have to face much of a financial loss even if they have to cancel the tickets.
Thus, it is important that before booking train tickets, you know that if you cancel a Tatkal ticket, how much of a refund you will get. Often, people do not know how the IRCTC gives you a refund on the cancellation of a Tatkal ticket booking.

What is the rule for a Tatkal ticket refund?
The cancellation rules are different for Tatkal tickets, based on whether they had been booked online or offline. After this, the ticket amount comes into your bank account in next few days.
On the other hand, if you have taken the ticket from the offline railway reservation counter, you will have to go back to the counter to cancel the ticket.
Rules for cancellation for Tatkal Tickets Booked as e-Tickets
No refund will be granted on the cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets. For contingent cancellations and waitlisted Tatkal ticket cancellations, charges will be deducted as per existing Railways rules. Partial cancellation of Tatkal e-tickets is allowed.
