Ganapati Special! Indian Railways to run 261 trains; introduces UVC Robots to safeguard against COVID-19

Indian Railways will run 261 Ganapati Special trains to various destinations on Special Fare. This decision was taken for the convenience of passengers during Ganapati Festival and to clear the extra rush during the festive season.  

Central Railway to run 201 Ganapati Special Trains, Western Railway to run 42 Ganapati Special Trains, KRCL to run 18 Ganapati Special Trains.  

These trains have already started services from the last week of August and shall run till 20th September 2021. Also, the Sleeper class coach is augmented in various trains originating from Mumbai to clear the rush. 

For detailed information regarding timings and halts, passengers can visit www.enquiry.indianrail.gov.in.  

Passengers having confirmed tickets will be permitted to board these special trains. Passengers are requested to adhere to all norms, SOPs related to COVID-19 during boarding, traveling and at the destination. 

On the other hand, the Ministry of Railway today also informed that the UVC Robots will be used for disinfecting trains. This is a first-ever endeavour by the Indian Railways.

Similarly, the Indian Railways on 6th September rolled out AC Three Tier Economy Class Coach. First time, the coach has been attached to Train No.02403 Prayagraj- Jaipur Express. The new AC Economy coach has 83 berths as compared to 72 berths in 3AC Coach. Also, the fare structure for this coach is 8% lesser than 3AC Coach.

Soon, two more trains, Train No. 02429/02430 New Delhi-Lucknow AC special and Train No. 02229/02230 Lucknow Mail will be augmented with this new 3AC Economy coach.  Initially, 50 new Economy coaches manufactured by Rail Coach Factory, Kaputhala, are ready to offer services in Mail/Express trains over different zones. 

Provision of entry into the coach and disabled-friendly toilet in a wheelchair has been made, which is a new initiative.
