Aadhaar Verification Online: At this point in time, the residents of India know what an Aadhaar is! The Aadhaar is a verifiable 12-digit identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to the resident of India for free of cost. However, one must be aware of the fact that all 12-digit numbers are not Aadhaar. The Aadhaar has also tweeted from its official Twitter handle warning the people against fake Aadhaar numbers. 

Aadhaar tweeted, "All 12-digit numbers are not Aadhaar. It is recommended that the Aadhaar should be verified before accepting it as identity proof. Click: resident.uidai.gov.in/verify and verify it online in 2 simple steps."

One must note that the process of verifying whether, the Aadhaar submitted to one is genuine or not is a very simple one. One has to follow these simple steps: 

Step 1: One has to login to resident.uidai.gov.in/verify

Step 2: Now, one has to enter the Aadhaar number in in the space provided 

Step 3: After entering the Aadhaar number, one has to enter the captcha for verification

Step 4: Finally, one has to click on the option 'Proceed to verify' 

It must be noted that in case of any query or Aadhaar related problems, one can dial the toll-free number 1947. Also, for any queries and problems, one can e-mail at help@uidai.gov.in. 

According to the UIDAI website, Aadhaar is a unique 12-digit random number assigned to a resident which is apart from offline or physical verification, verifiable online anywhere anytime using the Aadhaar authentication platform. Aadhaar authentication responds only with “yes/no” answer. The Aadhaar Scheme is primarily aimed at improving the delivery of social security benefits and subsidies, plugging leakages and wastes, eliminating fakes and duplicates and enhancing transparency and accountability.

The Aadhaar users must verify whether the Aadhaar number is a genuine one just by following the above-mentioned steps to avoid falling into the hands of any fraudsters.
