The COVID-19 lockdown restrictions in West Bengal has been extended till July 30, 2021 with certain relaxations.
West Bengal Lockdown Update: On Wednesday, the West Bengal government has decided to extend the COVID-19 lockdown till July 30, 2021. West Bengal imposed the lockdown restrictions in the state due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic from May 16, 2021. These restrictions were again extended till June 15, 2021, and then again till July 1, 2021, and July 15, 2021. Now, the restrictions have been extended till July 30, 2021, with certain relaxations.

The West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority has recommended further extension of the restrictions to curb the spread of the COVID-19 infection with certain relaxations till July 30, 2021. The directives are as follows:
1) All outdoor activities including movement of people and vehicles will be strictly prohibited from 9 PM till 5 AM except for health services, law and order, essential commodities including agricultural produce and other emergency services
2) Movement of public transport including government and private buses, trams, local taxis, cabs, autorickshaws will be allowed with passengers not more than 50 per cent capacity
3) Intra state local train movement will remain closed except for staff special trains and essential services personnel
4) Metro railway will be allowed to operate with 50 per cent seating capacity five days a week. The service will remain suspended on Saturdays and Sundays
5) All cinema halls, spa, swimming pools will continue to remain closed. However, swimming pools for exclusively for routine practice of state, national and international level swimmers may remain open between 6 AM to 10 AM
6) Not more than 50 people will be allowed at a time in marriage ceremonies and related gatherings
7) Funeral rituals will not be allowed with more than 20 people at a time
8) Retail shops in shopping malls and market complexes may remain open as per usual operational hours with 50 per cent work force
9) Restaurants and bars may remain open with 50 per cent capacity as per usual operational hours but not beyond 8 PM
10) All shops and markets (essential and non-essential) will remain open as per usual operational hours
