Weather ALERT issued by Met Dept: Thunderstorms to hit THIS state as temperature rises in next few days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar has warned that five districts of Odisha are likely to receive heavy rainfall till 7.30 pm on Thursday, however, in other districts of the state there will be a slight rise in the temperature.
“Due to decreasing thunderstorm activities, there is a slight rise in the temperature in the last 2 to 3 days. Yesterday Jharsuguda has recorded the highest temperature of 38.5 °C,” said Dr. HR Biswas, Director, IMD Bhubaneswar
“In the coming 4 to 5 days the temperature can go up by 1°C or 2 °C but not more than that, as there are chances for thunderstorm activities in many districts. There won't be any heatwave-like condition,” added Dr. HR Biswas, Director, IMD Bhubaneswar.
The Meteorological Department also alerted that thunderstorms with hail, lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph, and moderate to intense rain spells can likely be expected in some parts of Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jatasinghpur, and Nabaranpur during the next 3 hours.
The IMD has warned of minor damage to loose/unsecured structures and standing crops. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
A few days back, the India Meteorological Department had cautioned that parts of Maharashtra, Telangana & Odisha were likely to receive heavy rainfall for the next few days. IMD tweeted on April 5, “Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm & lightning over Interior Maharashtra, Telangana & Odisha on 07th April and no significant weather over Northwest and Central India during next 5 days.”
IMD has also mentioned that Marathwaada in Maharashtra will receive heavy rainfall for the next 3 days. Bengaluru was inundated after heavy downpour earlier this week. And Hyderabad also received heavy rainfall on April 5 and IMD cautioned that parts of Telangana will receive heavy rainfall till the weekend as well.
