Uttar Pradesh MP writes to PM Narendra Modi, seeks ban on Mirzapur season 2

An Uttar Pradesh MP has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state chief minister Yogi Adityanath seeking a ban on the recently released second season of web series Mirzapur. Anupriya Patel, the Apna Dal MP from Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district, accused the web-series of spreading ethnic disharmony. Patel alleged that the series began streaming on Amazon Prime on October 23 and was maligning the image of Mirzapur by portraying it as a violent region. 

The Apna Dal leader told reporters that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Mirzapur 'is a centre of harmony' and the matter must be investigated and strict action taken against those responsible for sullying its image. 

'Mirzapur 2' is a violent tale of feuds in families, politics and elections. It features Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi Ali Fazal and Divyendu Sharma in the primary roles. It also features also features Lilliput, Vijay Verma, Rasika Dugal, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda among others. 

The web series revolves around corruption, crime, governance failure, rule of mafia dons and gang wars in the titular eastern UP town. Mirzapur series new season takes the story forward as the fight to become the king of Mirzapur continues between Guddu Pandit and Munna Bhaiya. 

The trailer of the show had shown crime lord Kaleen Bhaiya defining the rules for the people of Mirzapur, while his wayward son Munna added his own take. Meanwhile, Guddu Pandit has just one thing in mind – to avenge the death of his brother (Vikrant Massey) and his wife (Shriya Pilgaonkar). Joining him is Sweety’s sister Golu.  

The second season also leaves scope for a third season with several main characters still fighting for the throne of Mirzapur.
