Traveling during lockdown? Here is how to get e-Pass for inter-state journey

We are currently in the middle of the fourth stage of lockdown, even as the government has announced several relaxations, allowing people to return to normal life. The decisions have been taken to ease the economic pressure. However, if you are planning to change the state in your travel, you will require an e-pass for the same. This e-pass can be secured by visiting the website constructed by the state government of the state they want to commute to.
How to get an e-pass for your journey?
To make the process easier, the government has set up a a single-point access website - serviceonline.gov.in/epass/ that allows people to request an e-pass. The website has been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC). The website currently gives you e-pass for 17 states, excluding major states like New Delhi.

You need to follow these steps to complete the process –
- Go the the official website - serviceonline.gov.in/epass/
- This is just a re-direct service that helps you navigate to the right .
- Once re-directed, you need to verify phone numbers with an OTP and upload all necessary documents to the website.
- The concerned department will review the application and decide if an e-pass has to be issued or not.
- The applicant will get a confirmation for the e-pass on their phone, once issued.
- You will have to carry the e-pass as security personnel might ask to verify if the person can commute during the lockdown or not.
- The e-pass after being issued also shows inside the Aarogya Setu app.
The coronavirus cases have been on a rise worldwide. The overall number of global coronavirus cases has increased to over 4.8 million, while the death toll has surpassed 318,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University. As of Tuesday morning, the total number of cases stood at 4,801,282, while the death toll increased to 318,465, the University`s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.
