Sensex, Nifty at record, here is reason why
The equity benchmark indices on Monday extended gains and closed at fresh record high amid strong earnings number and positive global cues.
The equity benchmark indices on Monday extended gains and closed at fresh record high amid strong earnings number and positive global cues.
Sensex surged 135.73 points, or 0.36%, ending at 37691.89. During the intraday trade, the 30-share index had also hit an all-time of 37805.25, breaking its previous intra-day record level of 37,711.87. Nifty settled at a historic high of 11387.10 rising 26.30 points, or 0.23%, surpassing its previous record close of 11360.80 hit on Friday.
BSE Bankex (1.11%) was the most gaining sector followed by Energy (0.98%) and Metal (0.77%). Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel and Hero Motor Corp were the most contributing stocks on Sensex rising as much as 3.86%.

BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices also rose 0.26% and 0.39% respectively.
