Zee Business reporter Anurag Shah has reported that complaints related to different banks will not need to be registered on the email or portal of the respective banks. November 11 is celebrated across the country as Bima Lokpal Day.

The Integrated Ombudsman Scheme is based on 'One Nation One Lokpal'. Furthermore, the scheme will cover all financial institutes regulated by the Reserve Bank with a portal for lodging complaints with a single mail ID and a single toll-free number. That is, there will be only one reference point for customers to submit their complaint filing related documents and track the status of the complaint.
In March this year, the Central Government has made major changes to the Insurance Ombudsman Act to address all insurance related complaints, and has also set up the Council for Insurance Ombudsman to assist the office of 17 Insurance Ombudsman present across the country
Now, there are certain factors that the common people must remember regarding lodging complaints related to all insurance companies. These are as follows:
1) Insurance ombudsman does not charge - It must be noted that insurance ombudsman does not charge any fee for lodging complaints related to all insurance companies, 17 ombudsmans across the country received 35019 complaints related to claims and policies of insurance companies in FY21 in which more than 87 per cent, that is, 30596 complaints were disposed of by Ombudsman.
2) When can you complain? - The complaint should be related to Life Insurance, General Insurance or Health Insurance of India and should be linked to agent, insurance company or intermediate Group Insurance, Single Insurance Policy, Policy issued to Proprietary Firm and issued to Micro Enterprises. The policy holder can complain, the nominee or statutory successor of the policy holder can complain to the Lokpal. It must be remembered that the right to complaint only after the complaint is rejected or partially rejected by the department of grievance redressal of the insurance company. The insurance company must complain within a year of rejecting the complaint. There is no right to complain pending in matter litigation in any other forum.
