Online shopping India: People in small cities spend 77% more than people in metropolitans
In small cities, 72 per cent people have started online shopping in the last 1-3 years. Male consumers are spending 36% more on online shopping than female consumers
With increasing purchasing power, internet and smart phone reach, and the door-to-door delivery system, online shopping fever is spreading fast to smaller cities and towns.
A recent survey has revealed that consumers in smaller cities are spending 77% more money on online shopping than people in metropolitan cities.
The survey showed that as many as 72% people have started online shopping in the last 1-3 years.
Also, male consumers spent 36% more on online shopping than female consumers spend.
While women prefer to purchase clothes and fashion products more, men prefer to spend more on electronics.
The survey has also shown that women focus on convenience, time a company takes to deliver goods, and return policy.
On the other hand, male conumers focus more on quality of products, EMI schemes, and online recommendations.
For the past few years, online companies like Amazon, Flipkart, and Jio Mart are also focusing more on their customers in small cities.
The companies know that online shopping trend is emerging fast in small cities, but it is a big market, which the companies can take years to fully penetrate.
