No Petrol, Diesel! Fuel outlets in India to be shut today for 20 minutes; here's why
The Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers (CIPD) has called for a 20-minute shutdown of fuel stations across India on Wednesday evening.
The Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers (CIPD) has called for a 20-minute shutdown of fuel stations across India on Wednesday evening. CIPD represents 56,000 fuel outlets in the country. This means that none of these fuel stations will sell petrol or diesel on Wednesday evening. The decision has been taken in the memory of the over 40 CRPF personnel killed as a result of a terror attack in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir. CIPD General Secretary In-Charge K Suresh Kumar confirmed that the fuel stations would be closed between 7 pm and 7:20 pm across India.
He said that banners and photos of martyrs would also be placed in fuel outlets and lights would be turned off during the mentioned time. He requested the public to cooperate and express solidarity with the defence forces. Over 40 CRPF personnel were killed and five were injured in one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14 when a Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying over 100 kg of explosives into their bus in Pulwama district.
