Mumbai Water Supply Cut Today News, BMC Water Supply In Mumbai News: The water supply cut, according to BMC, is being done to an urgent repair works in the neighbouring Thane district. The civic body has urged people to use water wisely.
Mumbai Water Supply Cut Today News, BMC Water Supply In Mumbai News: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that water supply in parts of Mumbai will be affected from November 1 to 10. According to the country's richest civic body, parts of Mumbai will see a 10 per cent water cut for the next 10 days.
The water supply cut, according to BMC, is being done for urgent repair works in the neighbouring Thane district. The civic body has urged people to use water wisely.
According to an order issued by the local authority, urgent repair works are required at the pneumatic gate system installed at Pise Weir. The work will begin today itself and continue till November 10. Pise Weir is located on the Bhatsai River downstream of Bhatsa dam. It is a concrete masonry structure.
According to the BMC, the regions where water supply will be affected are Mumbai Metropolitan, Thane and Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation. These regions will see a 10 per cent cut in daily water supply from November 1 to 10.

“During this period, water supply to Mumbai Metropolitan region and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) water supply to Thane and Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation will be affected. Therefore, 10% water cut will be imposed during the above-mentioned period in Mumbai," BMC said in an order issued on Monday.
"All citizens are requested to use water judiciously. Citizen’s co-operation to Municipal Administration during this period is requested,” it added.

Meanwhile, reports are doing the rounds that the civic officials have proposed raising water rates in Mumbai. BMC is currently governed by Shiv Sena. If Sena decides to hike water bills, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party will likely face a strong opposition from the ruling BJO and Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena.
