Mumbai: Taxi, auto fare set to go up from October 1 - check new rates
The existing fare for around 60,000 taxis and about 4.6 lakh auto-rickshaws in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) has been in force since March 1, 2021. The new rates will be applicable for petrol and CNG-operated taxis, the MMRTA said.
Mumbai: Starting October 1, Mumbaikars will have to shell out more for taxi and auto as rates are set for a hike. According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA), Mumbaikars will have to pay Rs 28 as the minimum fare for travelling in black and yellow taxis and Rs 23 for auto rickshaws, with the basic fares being hiked by Rs 3 and Rs 2, respectively.
The increased rates of auto rickshaw and taxi fares will come into effect from October 1, according to MMRTA.
The minimum fare for a distance of 1.5 km for kaali-peeli taxis has been hiked to Rs 28 from Rs 25 and the same to Rs 23 from Rs 21 for auto-rickshaws.
The minimum auto fare has been increased by Rs 2 and hiked to Rs 23. Also, the minimum fare of taxi and cool cab has also been increased by Rs 3 and Rs 7, respectively.
"Beyond this minimum flag down distance, passengers will have to pay Rs 18.66 per km instead of Rs 16.93 per km for taxis and Rs 15.33 a km instead of 14.20 (per km) for auto-rickshaws," according to MMRTA release.

Auto Rickshaw
Earlier, the auto rickshaw price was Rs 21 for 1.5 km and Rs 14.20 for the next km. But now the price has been hiked to Rs 23 for 1.5 Km and Rs 15.33 for the next km.
Taxi
Earlier, Rs 25 was charged for 1.5 km and Rs 16.93 for the next km. And now the charge is increased to Rs 28 for 1.5 km and Rs 18.66 for the next km.
Cool Cab
Earlier, Rs 33 was charged for 1.5 km which has been increased to Rs 40. The revised charge for the next km has been fixed at Rs 26.71 from Rs 22.26.
The revised charges were decided during a MMRTA meeting on Monday which was presided over by Maharashtra Transport Secretary.
