The Monsoon session of Parliament is set to begin on July 18 and end on August 10 with the National Medical Commission Bill 2017, among the legislative items topping the government's agenda. The session will have nearly 18 sittings, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar told media persons. The minister bried the media after the Cabinet Committee of Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA), chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, met here today to recommend the dates.

Ananth Kumar said that the government would bring other important bills, including the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Third Amendment) Bill, 2017, Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017, Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2016, National Medical Commission Bill, 2017, Rights of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Second Amendment) Bill, 2017, inter alia, for consideration and passing in both the Houses of Parliament.
The triple talaq bill, which has been passed by the Lok Sabha and is pending in the Rajya Sabha, will be among the top priorities of the government, the minister added.

Kumar also informed that election to the post of Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha would also be held during the session as the term of PJ Kurien is ending this month.
