Men in Blue go retro! Shikhar Dhawan reveals team India's new jersey for Australia tour
India opener Shikhar Dhawan on Tuesday confirmed that Team India will wear the retro kit of 1992 World Cup for their three-match ODI series against Australia starting from November 27.
India opener Shikhar Dhawan on Tuesday confirmed that Team India will wear the retro kit of 1992 World Cup for their three-match ODI series against Australia starting from November 27. Dhawan posted a selfie wearing this jersey on his social media accounts, confirming that India is going the retro way, a trend also followed by England and Australia in the recent past.
Dhawan shared a glimpse of India’s new ODI jersey which resembles the kit India wore in the 1992 ODI World Cup played in Australia and New Zealand.
“New jersey, renewed motivation, ready to go,” tweeted Dhawan on Tuesday.
The kit is of navy blue colour and has coloured stripes on the shoulder and has the names of Team India’s new principle sponsors Byju’s and kit sponsors MPL. The trend was started by Australia in 2018-19 when they wore a retro jersey against India. Earlier this year, Australia and New Zealand both wore their 1999 World Cup uniforms.

As far as the series goes, India will take on Australia in three ODIs, three T20Is and four Tests. The first two ODIs will be played in Adelaide while final fifty-overs fixture will be played in Canberra. Two of India’s key batsmen – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are set to miss a major part of the tour at various stages.
Star Australia batsman Steve Smith reckons Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's absence will leave a "big hole" in the Indian team but the visitors have a lot of talented players who can put their hands up in pressure situations. Rohit, who is nursing a hamstring injury, is out of white ball series and is still doubtful starter for Test matches while skipper Kohli will be on paternity leave after the first Day/Night Test in Adelaide.
