In an order issued by the BMC on Monday, a few restrictions have been kept in place while others have been relaxed as per a DNA report. The BMC has further stated that these orders will be applicable until the directives issued by the state government under 'Break The Chain' remain in force.
The new guidelines issued by the BMC are as follows:
1) All the shops selling essential items that remain opened from 7 AM to 11 AM at present, have been allowed to operate from 7 Am to 2 PM
2) For the next 15 days, the BMC has now allowed non-essential shops to function between 7 AM to 2 PM on alternate days from Monday to Friday
3) On the weekends, all the non-essential shops have been asked to remain shut
4) As per the order, the shops located on the right side of the roads will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the shops on the left side will be allowed to operate on Tuesday and Thursday
5) The order also stated that next week, the shops on the left side of the road will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the shops on the right will be open on Tuesday and Thursday
6) The order has also stated that all business units must ensure that everyone should wear masks and all the COVID-19 protocols are strictly followed.
On Monday, Mumbai reported 676 cases, the lowest since February 23 this year, taking its tally to 7,06,251, a civic official said. The day also saw 20 deaths, taking the toll to 14,884.
However, despite all these there has been a cause of concern with the relaxations of the guidelines by BMC. As per an india.com report, Maharashtra CM expressed his concern over the heavy vehicular traffic in Mumbai and warned that the lockdown-like curbs will be made stricter if such a situation continues. He added, “I myself cross-checked my speechmade last night. I did not say that COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.”
