Lohri 2021: Lohri is a harvest festival which is celebrated with much enthusiasm in Punjab and its adjoining regions in North India by the people of Sikh and Hindu faiths. Celebration of this festival is linked to harvest of Rabi crops during this part of the year. Lohri festival is celebrated by lighting a holy bonfire, and dancing to the tune of hit chartbusters. People wear fancy dress and share jaggery, gazak, popcorn, puffed rice with each other on the occasion.  

Lohri festival also symbolises the arrival of longer days after the winter solstice. According to folklore, in ancient times, Lohri was celebrated at the end of the traditional month when winter solstice occurs. It celebrates the days getting longer as the sun proceeds on its northward journey.
