He added, “Top BJP leaders had announced that they were moving towards forming a government. At that point, we were told that their current account here would be closed in this election. BJP leaders, including the PM, Home Minister & Chief Ministers, had come here to campaign.”
The 140-member Kerala Assembly went to polls in a single phase on April 6, 2021. The counting of votes of two constituencies is still underway.

Senior Congress leaders including Ramesh Chennithala, Oommen Chandy, T. Radhakrishnan, and PT Thomas are leading. But the drop in the votes Chandy received in his stronghold Puthupally has surprised the Congress camp. He has been representing this seat for the last 50 years.
"This government is known for its corrupt practices. I don't understand why such a massive mandate was given to the existing chief minister in this election. This needs to be studied carefully," Kerala Congress President Mullappally Ramachandran said while speaking to news agency ANI.
Almost all exit poll results conducted by India Today-Axis My India, Republic TC-CNX, CVoter Times Now/ABP News, and P-MARQ had predicted that the ruling CPI (M)-led LDF will return to power with a thumping victory. Whereas, it had projected that the BJP-led NDA will continue to remain a marginal player in the state with 0 to 2 seats.
