Karnataka Covid-19 notification: Weekend curfew, night curfew and other latest updates
Karnataka has reported 1,826 new Covid-19 cases and 33 deaths, taking the total number of infections to 29,22,875 and death toll to 36,881, the health department said on Wednesday.
Covid-19 cases in Karnataka continues to rise as the Dakshina Kannada district bordering Kerala, continues to top the daily Covid-19 cases in the state.

As per the report by PTI, with 422 new cases, Dakshina Kannada outnumbered the state capital Bengaluru Urban which reported 377 cases on wednesday. On Tuesday too Dakshina Kannada recorded the highest 378 daily cases, while in Bengaluru Urban it was 315 and active cases now stood at 22,851.
While the positivity rate for the day was at 1.09 per cent, case fatality rate (CFR) was at 1.80 per cent. Bengaluru Urban district tops the list of positive cases, with a total of 12,31,474, followed by Mysuru 1,74,199 and Tumakuru 1,18,431.
Recently, the Karnataka government had announced a weekend curfew in the state from August 7 to August 16 and had also decided to extend the night curfew in Ballari and Vijayanagara districts.
As per the state government's notification, the night curfew will continue to be imposed from 9 pm to 5 am in the districts, according to a report by ANI.
Further, all social / political / sports / entertainment / academic / cultural / religious functions / other gatherings and large congregations will remain prohibited in districts at all hours. "Jathres, temple festivals, processions, and congregations not allowed," it added.
Any persons found violating the measures in the two districts will be liable under the relevant provisions of section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the state said, adding that legal action under Section 188 of the IPC and other legal provisions will be applicable against them, according to a report by ANI.
While talking about the weekend curfew the state government had said, "Movement of individuals will be strictly prohibited between Friday 9 pm to Monday 5 am except for essential and emergency activities."
"There shall be Weekend Curfew in the districts bordering Maharashtra and Kerala from Friday 9 pm to 5 am," a state government release read, as quoted by ANI.
