Kaala box office collection day 1: Much to the delight of Rajinikanth fans, his latest release has created box office history. It was expected to do nothing short of that! Kaala collection day 1 figures skyrocketed to a massive Rs 1.76 crore and thereby turned it into the highest opening day grosser ever in Chennai. Kaala collection has created a new all-time box office record for day 1 opening. Rajinikanth has thereby beaten Thalapathy Vijay starrer Mersal at the Chennai box office, which had shocked and awed all concerned with its collection not such a long time ago. This has come in the face of much doubts being cast about the film not doing well as tickets were still available at many places on the date of Kaala release, which was Thursday.

A point to remember is that Kaala release date was postponed and that has harmed it a lot. Yet, despite that fact, the film has done very well. This will now ensure a big word of mouuth boost for Rajinikanth and people are likely to give a big BO push to Kaala across regions and not just in Chennai. Next target for Kaala collection is to become, going ahead, the topmost opening weekend grosser in Chennai. Kaala collection in opening weekend, according to some projections, is being seen at Rs 100 cr and above.
