IRCTC ticket concession for senior citizens: Senior citizens get concessions on ticket prices between 40 percent and 50 percent. The fare concessions are available for senior citizens above 60 years of age and female senior citizens who attain 58 years in all trains including Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi, and Duronto group of trains, according to information available on the website of Indian Railways' e-ticketing arm IRCTC.
IRCTC's concession rules for senior citizens: 5 things to know:
1. Indian Railways offers 40 per cent concession on tickets for male senior citizens, while women senior citizens are given 50 per cent concession.
2. Senior citizens have to carry proof of age while travelling.
3. Senior citizens can book tickets through IRCTC e-ticketing website -- irctc.co.in -- by providing correct age. They have to select "avail concession" option under "option for senior citizen concession" section of passenger details form on the website.
4. Senior citizen passengers can also opt out of the concession fully, partially or forgo the concession entirely. The amount will go to development fund of the country. They can select "forgo full concession" option under "option for senior citizen concession" section of passenger details form on the IRCTC website.
5. If they wish to forgo 50 per cent of their senior citizen concession, they can select "forgo 50 per cent concession" option under "option for senior citizen concession" section.
