This is because Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a dire warning for North India. The weather forecasting agency said the heatwave will continue until May 31, with temperatures likely to rise further in the next five days. A severe heatwave is anticipated in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
Heatwave conditions in Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab
The IMD reports that the heatwave is expected to continue in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan and Punjab until May 31. These regions will experience strong, hot winds, and daytime temperatures may reach 45 degrees Celsius. In Delhi, the maximum temperature could exceed 45 degrees Celsius throughout the week, while the minimum temperature is expected to stay between 31 and 32 degrees Celsius.
