Heatwave Alert: At 47.6 degrees Celsius, this is the hottest city in India
As some states welcome the monsoon season, there are places in the country that are still experiencing heatwaves and high temperatures.
Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) breaks all records to become the hottest city in the country with the highest maximum temperature of 47.6 °C followed by Jhansi being the second hottest at 47.1 °C on Sunday, June 16, 2024, The Indian Meteorological department (IMD) said in a press release.

As some states welcome the monsoon season, there are places in the country that are still experiencing heatwaves and high temperatures.
The southwest monsoon is advancing in some parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh , Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, the northwest bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, the remaining parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and some parts of Bihar for the next 4 days.
The weather in regions like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha is very likely to be hot and humid for the next few days, according to the Met department.
Talking about the national capital, the maximum temperature recorded was 46.3 °C in Ridge (Delhi).
The predicted maximum temperature for the next few days is likely to be approximately 45 °C, while the minimum temperature predicted is 33.0 °C.
With the prevailing conditions, some parts of Delhi are also experiencing intense heatwaves and water crises, making it harder for the common people.

Meanwhile, the Southwest monsoon has arrived in Maharashtra in regions such as Navsari, Jalgaon, Amravati, and Chandrapur, as well as in Bijapur, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram, and Islampur.
According to the IMD reports, the conditions show that the Southwest Monsoon is ready to enter most parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and the Northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 3–4 days.
Also, the department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the next 5 days from June 17 to 21, 2024.
