The Indian Railways has taken a great step on Thursday by launching a new website and mobile application that allow passengers from across the country to register their complaints.
The Indian Railways has taken a great step on Thursday by launching a new website and mobile application that allow passengers from across the country to register their complaints. The step would allow the Railway Police to address complaints of passengers from across India and carry out crime detection processes by integrating the criminal database online. The official website for the same will be - railways.delhipolice.gov.in, and the mobile application is known as Sahyatri. Both the platforms were launched by Union minister Nityanand Rai in the presence of Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik and other officials at the NDMC Convention Centre on Sansad Marg in New Delhi.

The database of criminals, including their photographs, active in railways' jurisdiction all over India would be uploaded on the website, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Dinesh Kumar Gupta. "This website would surely help GRP," Gupta was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

He added that the website can also be used by passengers to access citizen services, apart from sharing information among GRP. Information on unidentified dead body found, missing persons, wanted criminals, absconding/proclaimed offenders, other important matters, law and order related issues or major occurrence would be shared among authorised GRP officers, the officer said.

How to get the app?
The Indian Railways has confirmed that the app is available on Google Play Store as well as App Store. In can be downloaded from there by both iOS and Android users. It shall contain links to citizen services provided by Delhi Police through Tatpar and Himmat Plus Apps, police said. The Sahyatri app will help railway passengers find out the jurisdiction of a police station and the details of GRP officials by geotagging with Google Maps. It will also have the facility to scan and read QR codes and make an emergency call.
