Good news! Monsoon arrives ahead of schedule in many regions, may hit Delhi early too

Monsoon in India: After a string of bad news from Coronavirus pandemic, cyclone to locust attack, finally there is some good news. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD, monsoon has come early in many regions and pre-monsoon rains are expected in Delhi while the final arrival of monsoon in the national capital is expected before 27th June, 2020. IMD said that that there can be pre-monsoon rains on 19th and 20th, June in Delhi. In Bihar, UP and Madhya Pradesh, monsoon has already arrived while it is soon going to arrive in Uttarakhand and other parts of India. In Bihar, the IMD said, monsoon has arrived in all districts.

The IMD report has said that the monsoon has arrived in most of the states in India's north-western parts. 

As per the latest IMD report, there can be heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand on 21st June. In fact, the IMD went on to add that around 17 districts in Madhya Pradesh will witness heavy rainfall as monsoon has already arrived in eastern and western parts of Madhya Pradesh.

IMD says that those states where it is yet to come, may not need to wait for long. 

Odisha has received 23 per Cent surplus rainfall during the first 15 days of June by recording 97.4 mm of rain during the period, a senior MeT official said on Tuesday.

Most parts of Odisha have been experiencing rainfall for the last few days as the south-west monsoon is strong since it made an onset over the state on June 11, the official said, adding that a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal also facilitated rainfall activity.

"The volume of rainfall in Odisha was recorded at 97.4 mm up to June 15 which is 23 per cent more than the normal 79.2 mm," H R Biswas, Director of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, told PTI.
