FM Nirmala Sitharaman to hold press conference TODAY at 3 pm; Know expectations

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a press conference at 3 pm today, the official Twitter Handle of Ministry of Finance tweeted. 

"FM @nsitharaman will address a Press Conference today, 28th June 2021 at 3PM in New Delhi," the Ministry of Finance tweeted.

There are expectations that the Finance Minister could announce higher funding for the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme, Zee Business' Chetan Bhutani reported. The funding for Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) is likely to increase to Rs 5 lakh crores from the present Rs 3 lakh crores.

Earlier on June 25, to provide relief to the taxpayers of the country during the pandemic period the central government had extended several deadlines including the filing of TDS statements, Issuing tax deduction certificates, uploading of form of no TDS claims cases, etc.

Time to invest in a residential house for tax deduction has been extended for more than 3 months, PAN Aadhar Linking extended for 3 months, Vivad se Vishwas Payment without interest has also been extended by 2 months from June 30 to August 31.

The government has also announced tax exemption for expenditure incurred on Covid treatment and ex-gratia amount recorded on death due to Covid.
