Earthquake in Delhi: The National Capital was hit by yet another earthquake on Friday morning with mild tremors felt across Delhi. The earthquake was of low-intensity with no loss of life reported.
Earthquake in Delhi: The National Capital was hit by yet another earthquake on Friday morning with mild tremors felt across Delhi. The earthquake was of low-intensity with no loss of life reported. The earthquake of magnitude 2.2 hit the national capital on Friday, the National Centre for Seismology said with its epicentre in Pitampura in north Delhi.
The NCS said the quake occurred at 11:28 am at a depth of eight kilometres. The NCS is a body under the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
The national capital has been witnessing loss intensity earthquakes over the last few weeks which had even forced the National Centre of Seismology, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, to issue a clarification to assuage the people`s fear. It had asserted that tremors between two to three magnitude are usual and have hit the city 100 times in the last ten years.

The clarification came after a medium-intensity earthquake of magnitude 3.4 hit the city. Its epicentre was near Wazirpur in the northeast of the capital.
"Delhi has been witnessing earthquakes in the range of two to three magnitude frequently. There is nothing to worry about as they are a normal phenomenon. In the last ten years, the city has been hit by more than 100 earthquakes," an official from the seismology centre had said.
