Delhi weather today: The national capital woke up to an even colder morning on Monday with mercury dropping further resulting in extremely dense fog in Delhi and nearby areas, with visibility dropping to virtually metres. Both rail as well air traffic was hit because of this.

Both rail as well air traffic was hit because of this. 30 Delhi-bound trains were delayed by one to seven hours due to dense fog in several parts of northern India, officials said. Even though no flights were cancelled, as many as three were diverted from the Indira Gandhi International airport.
According to northern Railway officials, Bhubaneshwar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express was delayed by over seven hours, followed by Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express which was running behind its schedule by over 5 hours. The Gaya-New Delhi Mahabodhi Express was delayed by five hours, Nanded-Amritsar Sachkhand Express delayed by four hours, Singrauli-Nizamuddin Superfast by four hours. The Katihar-Amritsar Express and Mau Anand Vihar Expeess were delayed by three hours, Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express was running behind its schedule by one hour and 30 minutes.
The airport authorities, meanwhile, have asked passengers to contact their respective airlines for flight updates. Flights are operating at the airport under CAT III B conditions, which means that the runway visual range (RVR) is between 50 metres and 175 metres.

The situation was similar on Sunday when at least 13 Delhi-bound trains were delayed due to dense fog in several parts of northern India.
Meanwhile, temperature was also down in other parts of the country with Jaipur recording second lowest-ever temperature in 55 years at 1.4 degrees Celsius as a cold wave continued to sweep Rajasthan. The state capital had registered its lowest ever temperature at 0 degree Celsius on December 13, 1964.On Sunday, Mount Abu was the coldest at -3 degrees followed by Jobner at -1.6 degrees.
Sikar and Fatehpur registered 0 degree, while Kota shivered at 2.8 degrees, Churu at 1.2 degrees, Vanasthali 1.8 degrees, Jaisalmer 3 degrees and Bundi 2 degrees.
