Covid cases in India: Dr Mansukh Mandaviya meets health ministers of states as Coronavirus cases rise sharply
Between 30th March and 5th April, 26,361 cases of coronavirus infections have been reported in the country. There have been 48 deaths due to the Covid-19 infection in the last seven days, as per official data.
Covid-19 cases in India: With number of coronavirus cases rising, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare held a review meeting with the health ministers of states and Union Territories regarding the status of Covid-19 in the country. The meeting focused on public health preparedness for management of COVID-19 and progress of COVID-19 vaccination in states.
“Centre and states need to continue working in collaborative spirit as was done during the previous surges,” Dr Mandaviya said.
“Five-fold strategy of test-track-treat-vaccinate & adherence to COVID appropriate behaviour continue to remain the policy for COVID management,” he added.
The state health ministers have been requested to review preparedness with district administration and public health officials on April 8 and 9. The states have also been advised to conduct mock drills across all health facilities on April 10 and 11. And the states have also been advised to visit hospitals to review the drills.

There has been a surge in coronavirus cases in Kerala, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. More than 600 cases were reported in Delhi on Thursday.
States have been advised to identify emergency hotspots; ramp up testing, and vaccination and ensure the readiness of hospital infrastructure.
For the first time this year, more than 6,000 cases of coronavirus have been detected in the country, and active cases have crossed 28,000 mark. In the last 24 hours, 6,049 new cases have been detected, 3320 covid infected have been cured, and 13 patients have died.
As on Friday, the number of active cases of coronavirus in the country stands at 28,303. A total of 4,41,85,858 have been cured of coronavirus in the country so far. And a total of 5,30,943 deaths have occurred due to the viral epidemic in the country so far.
