COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout: From healthcare workers, frontline workers, elderly to general public, who gets it first
Morgan Stanley Highlights that Indian government's first goal in its upcoming vaccination drive is to protect lives by safeguarding the vulnerable population. Thereafter, it aims to stop transmission of the virus. For vaccine logistics, the government has established 31 main hubs from where vaccines will be distributed to 29000 vaccination points with the help of state governments. The government has identified 51k public health facilities and 162k private health facilities for vaccine rollout.
Vaccination will start with healthcare workers (10mn), then proceed to frontline workers (20mn) and to the elderly population (270mn) before it is given for general public use: Reuters
