Covid 19 vaccine online registration: IMPORTANT UPDATE! Big relief is here - CONFIRMED!

The Union Health Ministry has confirmed that online registration for vaccination and prior booking for an appointment is no longer mandatory for vaccination services.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that from now on anyone over the age of 18 can directly go to their nearest vaccination center to get registered on the Co-WIN digital platform.

Dr Harsh Vardhan, Minister for Health and Family Welfare informed about the same by tweeting "GoI is committed to provide #VaccineForAll under world’s #LargestVaccineDrive. Prior registration on #COWIN is not required to get vaccinated."

He further added "Walk-in & assisted registrations are being facilitated for citizens above 18y of age at all #COVID19 vaccination centres in the country."

The Health Ministry also informed that the facilitated registration through the Common Service Centers (CSCs) on Co-WIN, is just one of the many modes of registration on Co-WIN.

The facilitators such as health workers or ASHAs, also mobilize beneficiaries in rural areas and those residing in urban slums, for on-site registration and vaccination directly at the nearest vaccination centers. 

The facility for assisted registrations through the 1075 Help Line has also been operationalized, it added.

Talking about the vaccination coverage in tribal areas the Health Minister said that "Many tribal areas of the country are performing much better on various #COVID19Vaccination related parameters, compared to the Nat'l avg. Claims of ongoing vaccination drive in India not being inclusive are baseless."

It was further informed that more walk-in vaccinations are happening compared to national average and gender ratio for people vaccinated is also better as on June 3, 2021. 128 out of 176 Tribal Districts are performing better than all India vaccination coverage.

As per the latest information, more than 27.28 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far, through the government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category.
