Experts have categorically warned that children would be affected by the third wave more than adults. According to a report by india.com, health experts across the country are calling for massive preparation for the third wave of the virus as they say if it is not tackled well then it could pose threat to children.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting with district magistrates and field officials of 10 states on Thursday. He called for the collection of data on the transmission of Covid-19 among youth and children in each district and said that such data must be analysed regularly.
Amid the reports of third wave of the virus is likely to affect the children more, here is how India plans to address it:
Several states like Delhi, Karnataka and Maharashtra have already started taking measures to ensure there are arrangements in place to protect children. Delhi, Karnataka and Maharashtra, were also the worst hit states by the second wave of the pandemic.
Delhi: A special task force has been formed by the Delhi government to protect children in the national capital. Speaking on the third wave of the virus, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that if the third wave of corona emerges, his government is prepared in advance to fight it.
Karnataka: The measures announced by the Karnataka government for Covid-19 management among children include set up of paediatric Covid care centres in all districts and rehabilitation centres will be set up for orphans.
Maharashtra: Similar to that of Karnataka, BMC has also planned to set up a paediatric Covid care facility in Mumbai. A creche network will also be set up for children whose parents are in hospital for Covid treatment, as per the reports.
Currently, India is in the third phase of the vaccination drive where people in the age group of 18-44 years are getting vaccinated.
Bharat Biotech has got approval to start Phase 3 trials of its vaccine for the 2-18 age group which will begin in the next 10-12 days, according to a report by india.com.
The report also said that AstraZeneca is also carrying out trials for its vaccine in the 6-17 age group, but so far there is no data on it yet.
