Covid 19 new guidelines: Night curfew in Maharashtra from tomorrow; Jharkhand, Uttarakhand also set new curbs for Holi, Shab-e-Barat, Navratri, Ramnavami and Easter —check details

As Covid 19 cases continue to soar across the country, the respective state governments have imposed new restrictions. These restrictions have been put in place to contain the spread of deadly virus in general and also keeping in mind congregations during Holi 2021 and other upcoming festivals. The worst state to be affected by the Covid 19 pandemic remains Maharashtra, which will see night curfew making comeback from tomorrow, March 28. Here are the new restrictions in these states.

Maharashtra: As the Covid 19 cases spiral out of control, Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra government on March 26 decided to impose night curfew with effect from Sunday night. The announcement in this regard was made by the Chief Minister's Office. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in an important meeting chalked out further strategies in view of the increasing cases of corona in the state. Night curfews have been announced across the state since Sunday to reduce congestion following growing Corona cases. Malls will be closed from 8pm to 7am here too. 

Jharkhand: Ahead of festivals, the Jharkhand government has issued guidelines and prohibits celebrations of Holi, Shab-e-Barat, Navratri, Ramnavami, and Easter at public places to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.  In a letter, the Chief Secretary of the state Sukhdev Singh on Friday said: "All celebrations and congregations at public places during festivals like Holi, Sarhul, Shab-e-Barat, Navratri, Ramnavami, Easter etc shall not be allowed in the state. 
People may celebrate Holi with family members in their respective houses only. "The order also banned all kinds of processions, including those on Sahul and Ramnavmi across the state. "All activities, not specifically prohibited, are permitted outside the containment zone. All activities, previously permitted, continue to be permitted outside the containment zone. 
With respect to political gatherings in the context of bye-election in 13- Madhupur Assembly Constituency of the Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand broad guidelines issued by Election Commission of India on August 21, 2020 shall prevail," the letter read. 

Uttarakhand: Taking note of sudden spike in Covid 19 cases and keeping Holi celebrations in mind, the Uttarakhand government also issued new COVID-19 guidelines. The guidelines mention that celebrations can take place with only 50 per cent capacity and not more than 100 people at the same venue. Adults over the age of 60 and children below 10 years should avoid the celebrations. Apart from wearing a mask and following COVID-19 guidelines, organizers will also be required to provide sanitiser and have thermal scanners at the venue to ensure complete safety. Loud music and alcohol have been prohibited in public places. In containment zones, people will only be allowed to celebrate within the confines of their homes.
