COVID-19: India records lowest coronavirus cases in 238 days, 356 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours

In the vaccination scenario, India has administered 102.94 crore vaccine doses under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive. The recovery rate currently stands at 98.19 per cent which is the highest since March 2020.
The data further states that the country has recorded 15,951 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 3,35,83,318. Currently, India's active caseload stands at 1,63,816 which is the lowest in 241 days. The active caseload currently stands at 0.48 per cent.
It has to be noted that India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 2.
According to an earlier report by ANI, Dr Sekhar C Mande, Director General, CSIR said, "We have been able to get a large population vaccinated with the first dose and even with the second dose. Our vaccines do prevent the disease to a large extent. If tested positive after being jabbed, the severity of COVID-19 is also reduced. Even if the third wave comes, then the intensity will be low and much less compared to the second wave."
The ANI also reported that Mahindra Agarwal, Professor at IIT Kanpur had said that the emergence of another wave depends on the emergence of a more infectious strain.
