COVID 19 in Karnataka: Check latest data of coronavirus cases, deaths
Karnataka reported 7,345 fresh infections and 148 deaths, taking the tally to 27.84 lakh and the death toll to 33,296 as of June 16.

On the other hand, Bengaluru reported 1,611 cases and 19 deaths. The day also saw 17,913 discharges, showcasing the continuing trend of outnumbering the fresh cases. With this, the total number of recoveries in the state so far stands at 25,99,472.

According to the health department bulletin, the total number of active cases in the state is 1,51,566. While the positivity rate stood at 4.35 per cent, the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) was 2.01 per cent.
The Chief Minister on June 11 issued a new guideline mentioning that lockdown restrictions will be relaxed from June 14 in 19 districts, including Bengaluru Urban.
It was also mentioned that these districts Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Mysuru, Chamarajanagara, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Belagavi and Kodagu districts will continue to follow lockdown rules due to high positivity rates.
The first case of infection, which has caused a pandemic resulting in catastrophic health implications and human miseries throughout the globe was detected in the state on March 08, 2020.
It was a case of an international traveler returning to Bengaluru Urban. Since then, the state has relied on 5Ts of tracing, testing, tracking, treatment, and technology to tackle COVID-19. A robust surveillance system with elaborate contingency plans is in place for limiting the spread of the disease.
In the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, effective intervention in the form of COVID vaccination has been implemented in Karnataka since January 16, 2021, as per the Government of India operational guidelines.
