According to an ANI report, on Sunday, while holding a virtual conversation with the members of the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), Hyderabad on 'All About Vaccines', Dr Raches Ella, Business Development and International Advocacy Head of Bharat Biotech clarified the reason behind the side effects.
In an interaction with Dr Pragnya Chigurupati, Consultant Breast Oncologist and Oncoplastic Surgeon who moderated the talk, Dr Raches Ella said that if one injects the purest form of water in anybody, it is likely to generate a few reactions as it is the biological nature of the body. Now, if these reactions do not happen then there must be some problems with the body. Thus, whenever any foreign body enters one human body, a good body must react. The same is the case with vaccines and this is the reason behind the side effects.
Dr Ella further assured that COVID-19 vaccines are safe, and everyone should take the vaccines. In the session, Dr Ella also informed that the Covaxin paediatric trials is likely to begin from the month of June. He also added that the company is expecting approval for Covaxin from the World Health Organisation (WHO) by the end of the third or fourth quarter.
When Dr Ella was asked about the reason behind contraction with the COVID-19 disease even after the first dose of vaccination, he said that the first dose gives one partial efficacy. This is because of the fact that one's immune system takes time to develop. It is a biological process, and the system needs some time. He also further explained that the severity of the COVID-19 effect will be a lot less after the second dose.
