Coronavirus treatment charges fall one-third in Delhi after MHA intervention

After the series of meetings attended by the Home Minister Amit Shah with Delhi government authorities, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) constituted a committee that has issued some guidelines on the Covid-19 treatment in Delhi. After these Covid-19 treatment guidelines were issued by the committee, Coronavirus treatment charges in Delhi have fallen by around one-third. Zee Business' Sameer Dixit reported exclusively about the impact of MHA committee guidelines on Coronavirus treatment in Delhi.
As per the report, "The MHA has recommended a range from Rs 8,000-10,000 per day (including PPE and medicines), Rs 13,000 to Rs 15,000 per day (including PPE and medicines) & Rs 15,000 to Rs 18,000 per day (including PPE and medicines) for Isolation beds, ICUs without ventilators and ICUs with ventilators respectively for all private hospitals (depending on whether the private hospital is NABH accredited or not). This is as compared to the current charges ranging from Rs 24,000 to Rs 25,000 per day (excluding PPE), Rs 34,000 to Rs 43,000 per day (excluding PPE) and Rs 44,000 Rs 54,000 per day (excluding PPE)."

The MHA had constituted the committee under the leadership of Dr. VK Paul, Member, Niti Aayog to fix rates charged by private hospitals in Delhi. It was this committee that recommended these prices for the Coronavirus treatment in Delhi. The MHA just followed the recommendations of the Niti Aayog. The Delhi Government is expected to implement these recommended Coronavirus treatment prices any time soon.
Further, on directions of the Union Home Minister to increase testing capacity and quick delivery of results in Delhi, testing via Rapid Antigen testing methodology was started yesterday. A total of 7,040 people have been tested in 193 testing Centres. Testing will continue with increased numbers in coming days.
