Coronavirus end date: Covid-19 has reached its peak, will be contained by March 2021, says Govt Panel
The panel, whose study is based on elaborate research and mathematical model, also said had the lockdown not been imposed, a whopping 25 lakh people would have died
Coronavirus end date: A 10-member panel constituted by the government has claimed that Coronavirus has reached its peak in India and will be contained by March 2021. The panel, whose study is based on elaborate research and mathematical model, also said had the lockdown not been imposed, a whopping 25 lakh people would have died. The panel also talks about the necessary precautions that need to be taken to protect the public from Covid-19 during cold weather conditions.
The government constituted committee has claimed that corona cases in India won’t cross more than 1 crore and six lakh.
“Thirty percent of population in the country has developed antibodies. There is also an improvement of 0.04 per cent in mortality rate. We should not let our guard down and be extra careful and take all necessary precautions. If all corona guidelines are followed, there won’t be much cases of Coronvirus by February 2021 end,” said the panel report.
Modi government’s principal scientific advisor K Vijay Raghavan had constituted ‘'Covid-19 National Supermodel’' panel. The panel, which had 10 scientists and doctors, was led by IIT Hyderabad professor M Vidyasagar as its chairman.
Calling it a decisive decision to impose lockdown in March, the panel said had the lockdown been not imposed in March, there would have been more than 1 crore and 40 lakh cases till June 2020, and 25 lakh more people would have died till August.
"If the lockdown was imposed between April 1 and May 1, around 40 to 50 lakh people would have been infected with Coronavirus till July alone. While 6 to 10 lakh people might have died due to the virus,” mentioned the panel report.
The panel has asked people to take all precautions during festival season as any carelessness might lead to 26 lakh new cases by the October end.
