Budget 2022: FM Nirmala Sitharaman makes 5 big announcements for Telecom Industry - Focuses on 5G spectrum and more
Budget 2022: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made five big announcements with respect to the telecom sector in the budget. She said that 5G services would be started in 2022-23. This 5G spectrum will be auctioned. She expressed hope that the spectrum auction would increase employment.
FM Sitharaman also said that it would be promoted under the PLI scheme. More steps will be taken to promote affordable broadband in villages. Nirmala Sitharaman said that e-services would be delivered to the villages. She also announced the laying of rural area optical fibre. Under the Bharat Net project, this work will be completed by 2025.
Affordable broadband will be promoted in rural as well as urban areas. Service allocation funds will be given for its research and development. She said that all villages should have access to communication and digital resources. At the same time, a scheme will be started for designing LED manufacturing.
