Budget 2019: Four announcements for the education sector that Nirmala Sitharaman may make on July 5th
Budget allocation to Research and Innovation was more than doubled in the Interim Budget over the previous year’s allocation, a step in that direction.
Budget 2019 is just a few hours away and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is getting ready for the maiden budget of Modi 2.0 Government. When she would stand in the parliament tomorrow to present the budget, education sector would also be expecting some of their key demands getting met and making a final cut into the budgetary speech of the FM.
Speaking on the required steps that Nirmala Sitharaman can take on July 5 for education sector Dr. Arun Singh, Chief Economist at Dun and Bradstreet said, "The government has till now focused more on issues regarding access and equity of education, it is expected that the government may introduce some key measures to improve the quality of education."

Asked about the key demands that the education sector has from Modi 2.0 Government Dr. Arun Singh, Chief Economist at Dun and Bradstreet listed out the following four points:
1] Budget allocation to Research and Innovation was more than doubled in the Interim Budget over the previous year’s allocation, a step in that direction. Now, a considerable increase in budget allocation to the education sector is expected;
2] Emphasis on promoting e-learning, improving teacher training, establishing National Institutes of Teachers’ training, opening more Kendriya Vidayalas, Navodaya Vidayalas and Institutions of Eminence is expected;
3] A regulatory overhaul for setting new standards and providing autonomy to quality institutions is anticipated; and
4] An announcement to increase the number of seats in Central Law, Engineering, Science and Management institutions is also likely.
