During the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, the ruling YSRCP secured 151 seats out of the 175-member assembly, while the TDP managed only 23. However, the TDP's count decreased to 19 following the resignation of Ganta Srinivas Rao and the defection of three MLAs to the YSRCP post-election.
In a significant announcement on Saturday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) disclosed that the voting for the 175-member Andhra Pradesh assembly will occur in a single phase. Voters across the state will exercise their franchise on May 13, with the counting of votes slated for June 4. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar shared this crucial information, marking a pivotal moment in the state's democratic process.

Scrutiny of nomination: April 26
Last date of withdrawal of candidature: April 29
