Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has taken against a YouTuber for insinuating that he helped actress Rhea Chakraborty, who has been caught up in the Sushant SIngh Rajput death case. Rashid Siddiqui went to the extent of linking Akshay with late actor Sushant's girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty and claimed the actor helped her to escape to Canada, according to a report in Mid-Day.
Through such and other videos, it is believed that the YouTuber earned around Rs 15 lakh and that too in just four months, according to IANS. Siddiqui also saw subscribers to his channel FF News shoot up from 2 lakh to over 3 lakh.
Akshay Kumar has sued the YouTuber, who has been named as Rashid Siddiqui for making "false and baseless allegations" against him and the Bollywood superstar has sought an unconditional apology as well as removal of objectionable videos from his channel. Siddiqui is the man who had been arrested earlier for dragging the name of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son, minister Aditya Thackeray, in the case.
The YouTuber also claimed that Akshay Kumar was unhappy with Sushant Singh Rajput bagging big-time movies like "MS Dhoni: The Untold Story".
YouTuber Siddiqui is a civil engineer from Bihar and has been accused of defamation, public mischief and intentional insult.
The notice, as per PTI, sent by the law firm on behalf of Akshay Kumar says, "...because of your (Siddiqui's) scandalous, defamatory and derogatory videos, he has suffered mental trauma agony and huge loss, including loss of reputation and goodwill, which our client quantifies at Rs 500 crore."
The notice added that the said 'videos make several false and baseless allegations against our client (Kumar) that he helped (actress) Rhea Chakraborty abscond to Canada, that our client had secret meetings with (Maharashtra minister) Aaditya Thackeray and the Mumbai police Commissioner to discuss the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput and so on, it said'.
It also said, "Our client is indignant and absolutely outraged at the public embarrassment, discomfort and anxiety he had to face because of these false, scandalous and derogatory videos."
Siddiqui has been given 3 days to take action as requested by the notice failing which legal proceedings will be initiated.
Siddiqui has been granted anticipatory bail by the court and it has asked him to cooperate with the police in the investigation.
