Airport COVID rule for international passengers: The Indian authorities are stepping up their vigilance in response to the rapid increase of Covid-19 cases in China. The Karnataka government will begin screening overseas travellers at Bengaluru International Airport (Kempegowda International Airport)in view of a sudden spurt in COVID-19 cases in some parts of the world.
State Health Minister K Sudhakar on Wednesday said that authorities would be screening the air passengers at the airport.
In light of an increase in virus cases in various regions of the world, particularly in China, Sudhakar emphasised the necessity for people to receive a precautionary dosage of the COVID-19 vaccination. He affirmed that new COVID-19 regulations would be released soon.
In accordance with the recommendations of the Union Health Ministry, the state government has taken steps to send positive samples for genome sequencing in order to monitor newly discovered variants.

"Some countries including China and Japan are witnessing a sudden spurt in cases. China is witnessing more hospitalisation. Therefore, we need to focus on booster (precaution) dose coverage," Sudhakar said.
Under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, the state government will conduct a high-level meeting.
"A high-level meeting will be chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to discuss the next course of action," the minister added.
According to the minister, the state government will contact the health ministry and will seek advice.
In Karnataka, 100 per cent of the population has received the two required doses of the vaccine, although many people have not yet received the precautionary dose.
"All those who are yet to get their booster (precaution) shots should voluntarily come forward and get it," Sudhakar said in an appeal to people.
"We are prepared to face any kind of situation. We will take all necessary precautions and new guidelines will be released in this regard," he added.
