Budget Session of Parliament began on Thursday March 9, 2017.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he hopes for a breakthrough on GST and that the debate will take place in a democratic manner and the level of debate will be good.
However, nearly one crore employees and pensioners of Central Government are looking at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for he may announce the revised allowances under dearness allowance (DA) and Transport Allowance (TA) as part of 7th Pay Commission's recommendations.

However, the question on allowances still remain as the Commission recommended subsuming all 52 allowances into pay structures itself.
The government deferred this move and constituted a Committee on Allowances headed by Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa.
Media reports suggest that the Committee headed by Lavasa has already made their recommendations to the finance ministry and the decision on dearness allowance and transport allowance may be announced during the Budget Session of the parliament.
