7th Pay Commission: In good news for state government employees working in Mizoram, the state seems to have decided to extend benefits to them as the Mizoram Pay Committee, 2017, which was constituted to study the recommendations of 7th Central Pay Commission, today submitted its report. Mizoram Finance Minister Lalsawta stated about the submission of the report in Aizawl. The four-member pay panel was constituted on November 13, 2017 and was asked to submit its report within six months.
According to an official statement, the Mizoram Pay Committee, headed by former finance minister H Liansailova, has recommended implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in the state. Liansailova reportedly said the increase in the salaries of the state government employees would not be more than 18 per cent, if the 7th Pay Commission recommendations were to be implemented. The Mizoram Finance Minister said the report would be submitted to the government for further scrutiny, and would be placed before the state Cabinet for final approval.
Lalsawta added that the state government would have to spare an additional expenditure of Rs 563.24 crore to implement the report. Earlier, he had informed the state legislature that the Mizoram government intended to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission during the financial year 2018-2019.
Notably, Jammu and Kashmir has become the first time to implement the 7th Pay Commission for its employees. The state government under Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has announced to have given orders to implement the recommendations. This would enhance the salary of the state government employees by over 20%. “As already announced by Govt, the employees to draw revised scales of pay from current month”, the Jammu and Kashmir information department stated through a series of tweets.
