2.0 box office collection: Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar can create magic, be the fastest to Rs 200 crore-mark?
2.0 box office collection: Will Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar new film create magic in India? Can it beat the fastest to Rs 200 crore-mark movie, which is Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju or will it suffer fate of Aamir Khan starrer Thugs of Hindostan?
2.0 box office collection: The next big movie in Indian cinema industry would definitely be 2.0 starring southern superstar Rajnikanth and Bollywood khiladi Akshay Kumar. The movie is set to release this Friday, and has already broken a few records before hitting the nearby theatres. The appearances made by Akshay Kumar who is playing a villain's role, is so appealing that almost everyone wants to watch this movie. The movie surrounds distress caused by a deadly winged monster played by Akshay who forces Dr. Vaseegaran (played by Rajinikanth) to reassemble his robot Chitti. Hence, the movie has good 3D effects and is centred around a battle between Chitti and the monster. The mission is to save the world. Other supporting actors of this movie are Amy Jackson, Sudhanshu Pandey and Adil Hussain. What is interesting and quite fascinating to watch, would be 2.0's first week box office collection. The way 2.0 has been viral across various social media channels, one can surely expect the movie to outrun the blockbuster movie of this year Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju who recorded fastest Rs 200 crore mark in Bollywood industry this year. Many had expected Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan to break the record, however, that turned out to be an utter disappointment.
Directed by Shankar, Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0, which is slated to be released on November 29, has already earned massive amounts and crossed the Rs 100 crore collections mark. A sequel to 2010’s much appreciated film, Robot, film trade analysts are betting that 2.0 will do extremely well, as it is the biggest film made in India till date with an unheard of budget of over Rs 500+ crore.
Producers, LYCA, have already sold distribution rights of all the versions for a record price, the distributors are reportedly starting the process to lock the screen count.
The first of its kind Indian film, 2.0 has been reportedly made with a massive budget of over Rs 600 crore. According to south Indian film's trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film's advance ticket booking has been valued at Rs 120 crore. On the other hand, it was estimated that the film may have earned over Rs 350 crore by selling its various rights like Satellite Rights and Digital Rights.
Not only this, Amazon, Paytm, ICICI Bank have already been offering discounts to users for whom the advanced ticket booking is available now.
It has been revealed that the movie will be released in some 10,000 screens worldwide. Among the total, about 4,000 screens are reportedly already reserved for Hindi version.
In budget and screens, the 2.0 has already outrun Thugs of Hindostan which was released in 5,000 screens.
According to Bollywood Hungama report, 2.0 movie will bring a storm at the box office. While the three releases- Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, will not only be the biggest film for Akshay and Rajinikanth but it is also the biggest movie for Akshay to see Hindi version. Different types of concepts are being made about the film's earnings.
Over the last few days, the 2.0 posters released on social media have worked well to increase the enthusiasm for the film in the fans. Akshay won the hearts of everyone in 2.0's dreaded Richard look. While not seeing Akshay's presence in the promo, his fans got frustrated, indicating that Akshay's look in the film's new posters made the film bigger and better for the audience.
Following which, one may expect 2.0 to be a blockbuster and if it manages to break the record of Sanju, then that would just ring in Christmas early for Akhshay Kumar and Rajnikanth. Let's understand how!
On opening day, Sanju movie recorded a collection of Rs 34.19 crore, followed by second day of Rs 38.41 crore, third day of Rs 46.7 crore, fourth day of Rs 25.25 crore and fifth day of Rs 22 crore.
During the first weekend, Sanju posted a collection of Rs 18.75 crore and on seventh day the movie had collected Rs 15.5 crore.
Taking the above mentioned figures, Sanju became a blockbuster movie in one week's time with a whopping collection of Rs 200.8 crore in just one week's time.
Many had eyed Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif starrer Thugs of Hindostan to be the new blockbuster of Bollywood. However, fans did not like the movie much.
On opening day, Thugs of Hindostan made a box office collection of Rs 52.25 crore, followed by second day of Rs 29.25 crore, third day of Rs 23.50 crore and fourth day of Rs 18 crore.
However, by end of the first week, it was quite clear that fans were not completely impressed by Thugs of Hindostan, as box office collection started to come in single-digit.
By end of first week, Thugs of Hindostan's box office collection was already at Rs 140.40 crore. Stretching, the movie merely manged to see Rs 149.42 crore collection by end of second week.
Considering the above, the BO will be keenly watched on just one point - will 2.0 outshines Sanju's collection or see the fate of Thugs of Hindostan?
And if it does so, will it go on to target the all-time record of over Rs 500 crore that Baahubali 2 notched?
