State governments are now imposing stricter restrictions to contain the disease. Also, schools are being shut down and their closure is being extended. It seems like deja vu - it feels exactly like the time when the coronavirus pandemic first struck in the country a year ago leading to the lockdown. The recent spike in the number of COVID-19 cases all over the country has propelled the state governments of various states to either close down the schools and other educational institutions or to extend the closure on them.

Amidst the rising number of coronavirus cases across the country, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed that all the government as well as the non-governmental educational institutions will remained closed till April 30, 2021 as per a report by ANI. He said, "Classes of all the government/non-government schools from class 1 to 12 will remain close in the state until April 30. Coaching centres will be closed." However, he stated that the pre-scheduled exams can take place during this period and the teachers and other staffs can be present as per the requirements.
Last week, the Uttar Pradesh government has postponed the dates for the class 10 class 12 board exams. As per the new date sheets released by UP Board (UPMSP), the board exams for class 10 and 12 will be held in the month of May. The UP board class 10 class 12 board exams will now take place from May 8, 2021 to May 28, 2021. Earlier, the exams were scheduled to commence from April 24, 2021. The decision to reschedule the UP board class 10 class 12 exams have been taken because of the panchayat elections in the state.
The Uttar Pradesh government has also issued orders earlier to ensure that there must not be more than five people at a religious place at a time. Yogi Adityanath said, "The state has better resources and experience to contain the spread of COVID-19. COVID management should be used effectively." He further added that integrated command and control centres have been installed in all districts which will be used optimally and efficiently to contain the pandemic.
